I’ll be honest the thought of doing a staycation did not appeal to me all that much. I love to travel, and for me, that means actually getting on a plane to go somewhere. Times have changed though, so for us to even feel alive these days, we have to think outside the box. In case you didn’t know, my husband and I moved from Atlanta, GA to Edgewater, NJ in November of last year. It’s been a big change for me, but I love being close to the city. As a matter of fact, where we live in Edgewater is so close to NYC, we can see Manhattan from our balcony. It’s probably the closest we could have gotten to living near the city without actually living “in” the city. Needless to say, a staycation in NYC seemed like a good choice. The whole point of a staycation is to vacation in your city as if it were your first time visiting. I’ve never lived in NYC, so for me, the best part was that everything felt and pretty much was…new!
My primary reason for choosing Staypineapple, An Artful Hotel was because it’s dog-friendly. This hotel is not just dog-friendly, they are dog-obsessed! Since moving, I haven’t had an opportunity to find suitable boarding for Basil so I knew we would be bringing him along. I’m glad we did too! As soon as we checked in and got up to our room, they brought up some goodies for him!
Staypineapple, An Artful Hotel is conveniently situated in Midtown New York. That basically puts you in the middle of all the action in the city. At this location, you’ll be close to Times Square, Hudson Yards, and Madison Square Garden just to name a few. Upon entering the hotel, we were greeted very warmly by the concierge. He was so nice it felt like we had known him for years. It wasn’t just him either, everyone we met that worked in the hotel was nice! I don’t know about you, but courtesy is one of the things that always stands out to me when I’m staying at a hotel. The lobby looks like a playground full of color, and pineapples! LOL! I absolutely LOVED the funky decor! This is a lobby that’s totally Instagram-worthy so if you ever plan to stay at one of their hotels, I urge you to bring along your camera as well as some cute outfits to match the decor.
My absolute favorite thing about this hotel is the fact that when we got up to our room, we saw that the door had tape on it stating that the room had been thoroughly sanitized. Details like that make me feel good. Let’s face it, the past has been rough on all of us, and I think we’ll all be a little leerier of germs after everything we’ve gone through. And it wasn’t just a sticker they put on the door, the room was actually clean.
Another one of my favorite features about our room (besides the beautiful view of the city from the 24th floor) is the bedding. OMG! Laying on that bed felt like heaven! You literally sink into it! All of the beds include double duvet European-style bedding that you can even purchase if you want. They sell these duvets in addition to other fantastic items.
I’m glad we got the opportunity to staycation in the city. We went shopping in Times Square, ate pizza at a local restaurant just up the street from the hotel, and we even got a chance to get out and do some walking around the city!
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, one of the biggest tips I can give for doing a staycation is to get out of the mindset that you’re vacationing in your city. I know it sounds weird, but you get more out of it if you act as though you’re really on a vacation in a place you’ve never been before. But now that things are getting back to normal and travel is becoming more frequent, feel free to check out Staypineapple, An Artful Hotel for your next visit to NYC!
