PART TWO OF DAY TWO IN ROME: FONTANA DI TREVI AND THE SPANISH STEPS

Travel

Hey Afaconados!

After touring St. Peter’s Square and the Vatican Museum for about 4 hours, my bestie and I were in dire need of gelato…STAT! So we made our way to the nearest Gelateria for a fix. Being conservatively dressed doesn’t serve you very well when it’s 80 degrees outside, so we took it back to our apartment for a quick change into some summer friendly clothing before heading out in search of the Fontana di Trevi and the Spanish Steps. Our apartment was in the perfect position for visiting all of the main attractions in Rome so we didn’t have a far way to walk. If you ever find yourself there, make sure you find a place that’s located near the City Center…it literally puts you in the center of everything, and you can save on taxi rides.

Fontana di Trevi (Trevi Fountain) is located in the Trevi district of Rome. Legend has it that if a visitor throws a coin into the fountain, they are ensured a return trip to Rome…it’s not the wishing well that many people believe it to be. When you visit the fountain, you see FLOODS of people throwing their coins in (adding up to an estimated 3000 euro per day), doing what I assume to be making wishes…sorry guys. Located a few blocks away from the fountain, are the Spanish Steps. This stairway of 135 steps, lead up to the Trinitá dei Monti church and down to the Piazza di Spagna, one of the most famous squares in Rome. When we arrived at the Spanish Steps, we were each given a single red rose which is said to be good luck.

My outfit of choice for this part of the day was a very simple sun dress paired with my gladiator sandals. The details of my outfit aren’t really worth of repeating since both items are no longer available, but if you really wanna know, I purchased both dress and shoes from Urban Outfitters.

Here are the pics:

You would think that after such a full day we’d be completely worn out…well we were…but that didn’t stop us from grabbing some gelato on the way back to the apartment. LOL! On the way back, we decided to make a quick night visit to The Pantheon.

The perfect end to a perfect day!

In the morning we would head to the Termini Train Station to board our train to Naples. Next stop…The Amalfi Coast! Stay tuned!

Until next time!
